Steiner in Context: Thematic Insights
Each volume gets audio episodes generated from its finished text following an editorial topic brief, with AI voices labeled as such. The dialogues introduce Steiner's core arguments and point to the volume's chapters. The first episode comes out with Volume 1.
Feed launches with Volume 1
The feed goes live with the release of the first volume.
The voices of this podcast are AI-generated and labeled as such.
Our Editorial Principles
The page turns of the printed complete edition stand as markers in the text — following the edition each volume names in its list of sources, at the nearer sentence boundary where a page breaks mid-sentence. Every passage can be looked up in print.
In the German editions, quotations from other authors and historical formulations in « » stay letter for letter as printed. They are neither modernized nor grammatically adapted.
For each volume, one glossary fixes which of Steiner's terms stay unchanged; a second fixes their English translation.
Questions & Answers
What is the goal of this project?
Rudolf Steiner's work should be readable today without its thought changing: the German editions modernize the spelling and, in most texts, obsolete word forms and, where needed, word order and sentence structure, while Steiner's terms and other authors' wording stay; the English editions are new translations. Thematic volumes and the page numbers of the complete edition make study easier.
How does the text stay citable once it is modernized or translated?
The text carries page markers such as [GA 293 S. 45] (English editions: [GA 293 p. 45]) where the page of the printed German complete edition turns; where the page breaks mid-sentence, the marker in edited and translated texts stands at the nearer sentence boundary. Every passage can be looked up in the original, even where spelling, word order or language differ.
Why are podcasts created based on artificial intelligence?
AI language models can turn the finished text of a volume into a dialogue that introduces a topic in a short time. The voices are labeled as AI; the text of the volume, whose chapters every episode points to, remains authoritative.
Are these official editions of the Rudolf Steiner Verlag?
No. This is an independent, private study initiative. Since Steiner's texts (he died in 1925) are in the public domain, free editing and publication of the historical editions is legally permissible. The new editions are based on independent editorial work.
